Car Rental Policy

Draft policy — professional UAE legal review pending.

Last updated:

Independent rental providers

The listed provider supplies the vehicle and rental service and must have applicable business/rental permissions, authorized vehicles and appropriate insurance. SAYYAR publishes provider information and routes booking requests; it is not automatically the rental company. Providers must clearly disclose all material terms, charges, deposits, insurance and restrictions in the listing before customers submit requests. Listing publication does not verify licence, vehicle condition or cover.

Driver eligibility

Providers must disclose their applicable minimum age, accepted valid driving licences, residency/visitor requirements, permitted additional drivers and any required documents in accordance with applicable law. No universal SAYYAR minimum age or licence acceptance is promised. Customers must confirm eligibility and produce required valid documents directly to the provider, not in public listings.

Duration, confirmation and price

Select accurate pickup/return dates and hourly or daily duration. A submitted request stays pending until accepted by the provider; it is not a confirmed rental or payment receipt. Displayed quotes cover the listed base rate and selected period, not undisclosed extras. Providers must disclose included/excluded charges and availability, minimum duration, delivery, extensions and acceptance conditions; changes require agreement. Do not assume an extension is approved until the provider confirms it and availability.

Pickup, return, fuel and mileage

Agree pickup/return location and times; inspect and record vehicle condition and fuel at handover, retain the rental agreement and promptly report discrepancies. Providers must state the fuel policy, mileage allowance, excess mileage price, late-return calculation and any cleaning/return conditions before booking. There is no universal platform late fee or fuel rule.

Deposits, payments and insurance

Providers must disclose deposit amount, payment/hold arrangements, release conditions/timing, deductions, insurance coverage/exclusions, excess, damage liabilities and optional cover. Customers should obtain written confirmation. SAYYAR currently does not collect rental payments/deposits or process refunds. Do not call a deposit released or a refund processed without confirmation from the actual payment arrangements.

Road use, fines, damage and accidents

Providers must disclose responsibility and calculation for Salik/tolls, traffic fines, parking fines and any handling charges, supported by relevant records and applicable law. Use vehicles lawfully; obey insurance and licence restrictions. Follow applicable accident-reporting procedures and notify the provider promptly; do not undertake unauthorized repairs. Record damage and dispute deductions through the agreement and applicable law. No automatic customer liability is imposed beyond lawful and disclosed terms.

Cross-border travel and cancellation

Travel outside permitted areas or across borders requires the provider’s written permission, lawful documentation and appropriate insurance; acceptance in one country does not authorize use elsewhere. Review the disclosed cancellation/no-show/refund rules before requesting a booking. See Cancellation and Refunds and Vehicle Return and Disputes. Statutory rights prevail.

Legal framework and verification

These policies are drafted with reference to applicable UAE law, including Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection (as amended), Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2023 Concerning Modern Technology-Based Trade and Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection where applicable. Rental and traffic requirements may also involve Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024 on Traffic Regulation and the competent emirate authority. Mainland, free-zone and cross-border rules can differ. SAYYAR’s legal entity, commercial activity/licence, establishment, competent court, transaction model and emirate-specific obligations require professional UAE legal verification before commercial launch. These drafts are not a claim of legal certification. Mandatory statutory rights and obligations prevail over conflicting wording.
